As the Judicial Commission of Pakistan established a seven-member constitutional bench on Tuesday, sources told Aaj News that Chief Justice Yahya Afridi voted against the panel’s formation.
To construct a seven-member constitutional bench, the reconstituted JCP convened on Tuesday.
Three of the judges on the constitutional panel were among the eight judges who rendered a majority ruling on particular seats.
The JCP made the decision to name Justice Amin-ud-din Khan as the chairman of the Pakistani Supreme Court’s bench. In the highest court, he is the fourth most senior judge.
