With just two points from the first 15 grand prix, Williams had a rough start to the season and finished eighth in the 2023 constructors’ championship.
After years of underperformance, Vowles decided to “break so many systems” that had been in place at the squad in an attempt to increase performance, which led to their troubles.
Williams drivers Alex Albon and Franco Colapinto have treble the team’s previous point total and scored three points in three races since an update was made to the car at the Dutch Grand Prix at the end of August.
“Are we past the worst of it?” asked Vowles. Indeed. Have we left the woods behind? No.
Today, this isn’t success. Simply said, it’s better than where we were. We are far from the finish of the voyage, and success is truly at the sharp end of the grid. I’m afraid we’re just getting started.
