Following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court, Prime Minister Simon Harris declared on Friday that Benjamin Netanyahu would be arrested if he traveled to Ireland.
Harris responded, “Yes, absolutely,” when asked by national television RTE if Ireland would detain the Israeli prime minister if he visited the country.
“We apply their warrants, and we support international courts,” he continued.
Netanyahu and his former defense minister Yoav Gallant were the targets of warrants issued by the ICC on Thursday “for crimes against humanity and war crimes” that were committed between October 8, 2023, and May 20 of this year.
It stated that there were “reasonable grounds” to suspect the two of “criminal responsibility” for purposefully assaulting civilians and using famine as a weapon of war.
