ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the creation of the Danish University of Applied and Emerging Sciences in Islamabad, using £190 million that had been sent from the National Crime Agency (NCA) of the United Kingdom to the account of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
In January of this year, former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were found guilty in a £190 million lawsuit. The PTI founder received a 14-year term from the Accountability Court, and his wife received a seven-year imprisonment. They were also fined heavily.
As he presided over the meeting of the steering committee for the founding of Daanish University, Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked Pakistan’s top justice for making sure the £190 million was transferred to the federal government account without incident.
