In a London courtroom this week, an English lawyer representing a Colorado mother who is accused of killing her two young children in December 2023 fought against the idea of extraditing her from the United Kingdom back to the United States.
On December 30, 2023, Kimberlee Singler was arrested by U.K. officials after Colorado authorities said she killed her 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son and injured her 11-year-old daughter before reportedly fleeing abroad.
According to News affiliate KOAA, her lawyer, Edward Fitzgerald, Kings Counsel (KC), who also represented Julian Assange, a co-founder of Wikileaks, claimed that extraditing Singler to the US would be against the European Convention on Human Rights because she would not be eligible for parole if found guilty.
