ISLAMABAD: To help the renovation of roads in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and improve safe, all-weather connectivity in rural areas, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has granted a $320 million loan.
According to an ADB press release released on Friday, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Roads Development Project would renovate almost 900 kilometers of the province’s rural roads that are in bad condition and vulnerable to flooding.
It added that the project incorporates steps to combine climate-resilient architecture, road safety enhancement, and sustainable maintenance methods. These cover vital roads that connect isolated communities to markets, healthcare facilities, and educational opportunities.
“In Pakistan, road transportation is essential to socioeconomic growth and serves as a lifeline for the populace. This crucial infrastructure project will shorten travel distances and improve transit.
