LONDON/ISLAMABAD: The controversial YouTuber Adil Raja has been denied permission to file an appeal at the London High Court in relation to Brigadier (retired) Rashid Nasir’s defamation lawsuit.
Raja’s request to pay Brigadier (retd) Rashid Naseer merely £35 a month was denied by the UK High Court. Raja was ordered to pay Naseer £10,000 during a hearing two months prior, in which Adil Raja had also lost on all counts.
In addition to rejecting Raja’s baseless appeal, the court mandated that Raja pay an additional £3,000, bringing his total debt to Naseer to £13,000.
Raja has also suffered another setback when the High Court ruled that he will never be able to get his legal fees back from the retired military officer who has so far prevailed in every phase of his defamation lawsuit against him.
Mahtab Anwar Aziz of Central Chambers Law Solicitors represented the fugitive YouTuber who was charged with anti-Pakistan acts on social media.
Two months ago, Deputy High Court Judge Mr. Richard Spearman KC ruled that Raja must pay the retired brigadier £5,000 for the defamation trial’s rejected application. The judge also ordered Adil Raja to make an additional interim payment of £5,000 on account of costs for the unsuccessful security for costs application.
