Based on the same-titled novel by David Nicholls, Ambika Mod co-stars with Leo Woodall of The White Lotus.
As a participant in the 2022 BAFTA Breakthrough program, Mod, who starred in the BBC series This Is Going To Hurt, claims it gave her the opportunity to have some “amazing meetings” with celebrities.
She told Sky News, “I spent the afternoon with one of my icons, Emma Thompson.”
“She was so generous and attentive, and I remember her saying there’s no such thing as a career, there’s only what you do next.”
The 29-year-old clarifies that there can be “too much” pressure to identify oneself as a particular kind of performer.
“Her saying that, it really clicked because it’s so true,” she continues. All we’re doing is attempting to identify what excites us and give it our all.”
The British actress plays Emma Morley in the film One Day. Emma is a young woman who we first meet on July 15, 1988, the day she receives her university degree.
Mod declares, “I’ve loved the book since I was 13.”
It was actually one of the reasons she initially declined to come in for the role’s audition.
