Attorneys are endorsing the creation of a Constitutional Court in the nation, pointing to possible enhancements to the legal system and more effective management of constitutional cases.
Given that there are existing Constitutional Courts in more than 50 nations, Lahore High Court attorney Tahir Chaudhry hinted that Pakistan would not be the first country to establish one. He clarified that these specialist courts will handle matters needing constitutional interpretation, potentially improving the efficiency of the Supreme Court and expediting the legal system.
Concerns over the current status of the justice system were also voiced by legal experts. The Islamabad High Court Association’s Secretary, Advocate Shafqat Tarar, underlined the necessity for reforms, pointing out that constitutional and political issues take up a large amount of court time.
