RAWALPINDI: Security forces successfully thwarted an attempted infiltration and retaliated decisively against a cross-border attack by militants in the Kurram and North Waziristan regions, security sources told News on Saturday.
Security sources claim that a squad of 20 to 25 Khawarij, working with the Afghan Taliban, used heavy weapons to conduct an unjustified attack on Pakistani installations this morning.
Pakistani forces responded quickly and efficiently, delivering a powerful counterattack in addition to neutralizing the infiltration attempt.
More than 15 insurgents, including Afghan Taliban fighters, were reportedly killed, while numerous others were injured. The Afghan Taliban suffered significant losses as a result of the operation, which forced them to surrender six checkpoints along the border.
