Pakistan sent its condolences to Afghanistan on Saturday for the unfortunate loss of over 300 lives and the extensive property damage brought on by the disastrous floods.
The United Nations said that flash floods raced through many Afghan districts, killing over 300 people. Authorities immediately declared a state of emergency and tried to rescue those who were hurt.
“The government and the people of Pakistan express their heartfelt condolences on the tragic loss of life and widespread damage to property caused by heavy rains and flash floods in several provinces of Afghanistan,” Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said in a statement.
She went on to say that the families of the deceased, the injured, and the communities impacted by this natural disaster were in their thoughts and prayers.
“We pray for the missing people to recover quickly.”
She continued, saying that Pakistan is standing in solidarity with the people of Afghanistan during this trying time.
It is important to note that numerous regions, including northern Baghlan, were severely affected by the powerful rivers of water and mud that erupted on Friday, tearing through villages and across agricultural area.
