Following successful negotiations between the two nations’ authorities, the Torkham border crossing—the primary route for travel and commerce between Pakistan and landlocked Afghanistan—has reopened after a 25-day closure.
According to sources who spoke to News, the crossing will first be open for business, then starting on Friday, pedestrians will be permitted to cross.
Bilateral trade has resumed since the border crossing was reopened, and trucks with commercial items have begun to enter Afghanistan, according to sources.
Afghan officials have agreed to dismantle the contentious building that caused tensions between the two parties, according to Syed Jawad Hussain Kazmi, the head of the Pakistani tribal jirga.
