After over thirty years of marriage, AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu, have made the decision to divorce.
The Times of India said that Saira’s attorney, Vandana Shah, confirmed the news, calling it a “difficult decision.”
“After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband, Mr. AR Rahman,” the lawyer said in a statement that was posted. This choice was made following a period of intense emotional stress in their relationship.
“Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time,” the statement continued.
