RAWALPINDI: On the first day of Eid ul Fitr, five Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers were released from custody after being temporarily held by the police for filming protests and demonstrations outside the main entrance of Adiala jail.
According to the police, the political activists were recording recordings of the prison’s grounds at gate number 5, which was off-limits to unimportant people. The party workers were allegedly detained for recording footage inside the prison.
The employees, according to the police, were moved to the Adiala prison police station and held there for a while before being freed.
They had earlier claimed that the prison’s perimeter was under high alert for security.
Since party founder Imran Khan has been detained at the Adiala Prison since last year, PTI members had assembled outside the facility. There were rumors during Ramadan that PTI founder Imran Khan may be freed before Eid, but such rumors proved unfounded.
