Since Donald Trump’s proposal to annex Canada is a “direct confrontation” with British sovereignty, Canadian MP Danielle Smith has urged King Charles III to oppose it.
The leader of Alberta province stated in an interview with The Telegraph that the King had a responsibility to challenge the US president in his capacity as head of state.
“Every week when we’re in the legislature, we sing ‘God save the King,'” Smith remarked. “We have the King on our banknotes; I swear an oath to him, and our oath to the King affirms our cabinet secrecy.”
Therefore, I believe he needs to speak out on [Trump’s plan to annex Canada], as it is, in my opinion, a clear conflict.
