Emma McKeon, the most decorated Olympian from Australia, revealed on Monday that she will be retiring from swimming in all its forms. Her spectacular career included 20 world championship gold and 14 Olympic medals.
After winning gold, silver, and bronze in relays to lead Australia to its most successful Summer Games, the 30-year-old sprinter announced her retirement earlier this year at the Olympics in Paris.
“I’m sure I’ll miss it… In the statement announcing her retirement, McKeon added, “It has helped me form many wonderful relationships and has helped me become the person I am today.”
However, I’m eager for the next phase of my life and am unquestionably prepared for it. I don’t believe I’ve had enough time to consider anything just yet.
