In July, Carl Cooper, 66, was sentenced to life in prison for the stabbing deaths of Fiona Holm, 48, whose body has never been located, and Naomi Hunte, 41, who was stabbed in the chest.
Cooper was a handyman, and both women had dated him for almost a year before reporting him to the police for violent behavior.
In connection with a complaint filed by Ms. Holm against Cooper for assault in April 2023, the Met Police stated on Wednesday that four of its officers were the subject of a misconduct investigation.
Despite being taken into custody after the attack, Cooper was not charged, according to the force.
It is estimated that Ms. Holm, of south east London, passed away on June 20, 2023, some two months later.
A assessment of how Ms. Holm’s complaint was handled came to the conclusion that a more in-depth inquiry might have turned up important witnesses who might have offered convincing proof of Cooper’s victimless prosecution.
The murderer has never disclosed where Ms. Holm’s body is, according to the Met.
On Valentine’s Day in 2022, Ms. Hunte was discovered fatally stabbed while lounging on her sofa in south east London.
Woolwich Crown Court heard evidence during her murder trial that she had called police to her home on several occasions in 2020 and 2021, claiming Cooper was “obsessed” with her.
