ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, Omar Ayub, Secretary General of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), rejected Hammad Azhar’s resignation as President of Punjab. Despite this, Azhar stated that he remained “firm” in his decision.
“You have devoted countless hours to the party and Imran Khan sahib, the prime minister, Hammad Azhar. Not accepting resignation,” Ayub posted on X.
In reaction to the statement made by the secretary general of the PTI, Azhar stated he could not function in a situation where he was in complete control yet lacked authority.
“I am touched by your faith in me. However, I firmly feel that I cannot go on in these circumstances, where I have total accountability but no authority,” he stated.
Furthermore, he stated that limitations on his mobility also played a role in his choice.
