Despite being dismissed, Melissa Barrera chose to remain morally upright by speaking out about her relationship with the Scream franchise.
Her recent words follow Spyglass’s decision to fire the 33-year-old actress from Scream VII—who had previously acted in the fifth and sixth installments alongside Jenna Ortega—for comments she made on social media regarding the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
“I will continue to speak out for those that need it most and continue to advocate for peace and safety, for human rights and freedom,” Melissa declared following the development.I refuse to live in silence.
“I’m just so grateful for what I got to infuse in the franchise, and that’s something I’ll be proud of,” she told Deadline on Friday at the Sundance festival.
Melissa responded, “We’re family for life,” when asked how she felt about getting back together with her former group. We always find each other if we’re around each other, and that’s exactly what happened at that occasion.
Nothing can ever change the fact that when we find each other, all we want to do is spend the night together,” she said.
