Despite being passed over for the series in Pakistan in favor of Shoaib Bashir, the left-armer has returned to create a spin combination with his Somerset teammate.
With 14 victims heading into Thursday’s series decider in Rawalpindi, the 33-year-old is the top wicket-taker on both sides.
“Even though I knew this tour was the other side of the summer, I felt maybe that might be it after a long time out with injury,” Leach told Sport.
At that moment, my main goals were to return to my peak, enjoy playing cricket, and avoid injuries for as long as possible.
When Bashir made his international debut earlier this year, Leach lost his spot after suffering an injury during the India tour.
Leach missed the remainder of the series after suffering a leg injury in the opening Test. After missing the home Ashes in the summer of 2023 due to a stress fracture in his back, that was his maiden Test return.
