Following his return to the UK from Thailand, Richard Burrows was taken into custody on Thursday, according to a Cheshire Police spokesman.
He is scheduled to appear at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday after being placed under remand in custody.
He was wanted, according to the force, since December 1997, when he skipped his trial at Chester Crown Court on charges of two major sexual offenses and eleven indecent assaults.
The allegations center on child sexual abuse that is said to have happened between 1969 and 1971. The alleged incidents are said to have happened in children’s homes in the West Midlands and Congleton, Cheshire.
Cheshire Police Detective Inspector Eleanor Atkinson stated: “Over the past 27 years, our determination to find Burrows has not wavered, and his arrest represents a major advancement in this case and the start of closure for all those involved.”
