The top leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s son Zain Qureshi, said on Monday his optimism that his father will be released from prison following Eid ul Adha.
A close associate of PTI founder Imran Khan and a former foreign minister, Qureshi was detained in August of last year in connection with the cipher case. Months after being given bail, he was taken into custody once more.
“I’m celebrating my second Eid without my dad. He has made the greatest of sacrifices. After Eid prayers in Multan, Zain told reporters, “I’m hoping that he’ll be out of jail after Eid.”
In the notorious cipher case, as well as in a number of other cases involving vandalism on May 9 and the “Azadi March,” Qureshi and Imran have been found not guilty.
