Iran’s foreign minister stated Tuesday in Pakistan that the country has the right to “legitimate defense” and is not looking for “escalation.” He also promised to retaliate for Israeli assaults on Iranian military installations last month.
At a press conference, Abbas Araghchi and his Pakistani counterpart stated, “The Islamic Republic of Iran does not seek escalation, unlike Israel, but we reserve our inherent right to legitimate defense.”
During his two-day official visit to Pakistan, Araghchi declared, “We will definitely respond to the Israeli aggression in a proper time and in a proper manner,” as well as “in a very measured and well-calculated manner.”
The October 26 raids, which Israel said targeted Iran’s defense capabilities and missile production, were carried out by Israeli airplanes; however, Tehran claimed that its missile production was unaffected.
