Price, 46, had been warned she would be arrested if she failed to show up to a bankruptcy court in London, and she was scheduled to appear there on Tuesday.
Judge Catherine Burton of the Insolvency and Companies Court stated that the former model had received “very clear warnings” when she failed to appear in court. She went on to say that the court needed to issue a warrant for Ms. Price’s arrest.
“She doesn’t really have an explanation for missing the hearing today. It makes no difference why she isn’t here today.”
Due to unpaid taxes, the former beauty model was declared bankrupt twice in 2019—in November and again in March.
She was “dealing with serious stuff” when she missed her hearing in March.Lawyer Darragh Connell, who is the trustee for Price’s two bankruptcies, stated in court on Tuesday that Price would “not be kept in custody for a long period of time” and that her arrest was intended to ensure she would show up for a future financial hearing.
“Her liberty is at stake, but regrettably, this is the end of the road for us,” he continued.
