After the longest snowless spell since records began 130 years ago, Mount Fuji in Japan has finally received some snow.
About a month after the country’s recovery from one of its hottest summers, snow fell on Japan’s highest mountain.
Locals celebrated the news and shared pictures of the snow-covered mountain.
One of Japan’s most visited tourist destinations, Mount Fuji has served as the inspiration for centuries of artwork.
The Shizuoka branch of the Japan Meteorological Agency reported seeing snow on Wednesday, November 6.
“Oh, I’ve been waiting for this” was a comment made by an X user on Wednesday as pictures of the snow-capped peak went viral. “I’ve never been so excited for the first snowfall this year,” another person commented.
