Since the incident in Pennsylvania on Saturday, Mr. Trump has covered one ear with a patch.
On Thursday night, during the convention, Mr. Trump will formally accept the GOP nomination and deliver his first speech since the attempted suicide.
Thomas Matthew Crooks, age 20, was shot and killed by police after he shot Mr. Trump with his firearm during his event last week in the Pittsburgh area.
He gave a brief wave of his fist and yelled “fight” as his security guards jumped to his defense before he was whisked off.
After chanting it back at him in Pennsylvania, his followers are now using it as a rallying cry.
It’s unclear exactly what kind of damage he sustained.
He is missing a portion of his top right ear, according to his doctor, Ronny Jackson, although it’s unclear if he’s still getting therapy.
