Spanish football player Jenni Hermoso’s teammates have testified that she felt overwhelmed when Spain’s former football manager Luis Rubiales allegedly kissed her forcibly.
Her teammates Alexia Putellas, Laia Codina, and Irene Paredes attended Mr. Rubiales’ trial at the National Court in Madrid on Thursday. Rubiales is charged with coercion and sexual assault.
Ms. Codina claimed to be “sad” and “not enjoying herself” following the encounter, while Ms. Putellas said that Ms. Hermoso had felt “overwhelmed.”
During the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup medal ceremony in Australia, Mr. Rubiales planted a kiss on Ms. Hermoso’s lips, sparking demonstrations and demands for his resignation. He denies any misconduct.
