When Loomis sang the Star-Spangled Banner during an independent candidate discussion on Wednesday that was aired live on TV channel , as well as on the radio and online, it sparked jeering on social media.
Loomis apologized to the team at Free and Equal Elections, which organized the discussion, in an Instagram video that was shared on Saturday, calling the incident a “mishap.” He said, “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to mess up the national anthem.”
Ever since I was a young child, I have been afraid of this. I was afraid I wouldn’t succeed, but I did, and everyone saw it,” she said.
She appears to botch up a note on stage, and footage from the event shows her becoming agitated.
She swore after singing the phrase “and the rocket’s red glare” and said the words, “Please, can I go back?”
The singer only discovered that the tape was live at that point.
Later in the performance, she remarked, I became too anxious.
Comparisons to past incidents involving performances of the US national anthem have been made in light of the performance.
Loomis’ performance was compared by some to Fergie’s notorious rendition of the song during the 2018 NBA All-Star Game. “I wanted to try something special for the NBA,” Fergie stated at the time, but it “didn’t strike the intended tone.”
