These women are forced to depart. Even yet, they’re fortunate if some of them manage to escape, as several of the towns and villages from which they originate are no longer able to leave their homes.
The duchess visited Adre, where over 220,000 refugees—mostly women and children—are residing in a camp after escaping the fighting between the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
Sophie visited the border crossing with Chad, where 400 to 1,000 migrants travel every day, escorted by members of the UNICEF organization.
