Tuesday saw the arrival of aid planes in Parachinar, in the Kurram area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where fighting have left thousands stranded and killed over 130 people since last month.
As the government works to resolve a rekindled conflict between two groups resulting from decades-old conflicts over farmland, residents have reported food and medication shortages in areas of the region, which borders Afghanistan.
Faisal Edhi, the director of the private welfare organization Edhi, announced that “more flights would keep coming back” throughout the week and that “two patients who require urgent surgery” would be returned to Peshawar after the first flight touched down in Parachinar.
Edhi said that medications would also be provided.
