In the Kurram area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where thousands of people are stuck due to tribal hostilities that have killed over 200 people since July, an aid plane touched down on Tuesday.
As the government works to resolve a rekindled conflict between the tribes stemming from decades-old conflicts over farmland, residents in areas of the Kurram region, which borders Afghanistan, have reported food and medication shortages.
Faisal Edhi, the director of the private welfare organization Edhi, announced that “more flights would keep coming back” during the week and that “two patients who require urgent surgery” would be returned to the city of Peshawar after the first flight touched down in Parachinar.
Edhi said that medications would also be provided.
