The federal excise charge on flights for blue-collar workers traveling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations has been lowered by the Pakistani government.
The Federal Board of Revenue of Pakistan announced that individuals traveling abroad from Pakistan to a GCC nation on a labor visa that has been validated by the Protector of Emigrants (Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment) will be required to pay a fixed fee of Rs5,000 (Dh66) per ticket. Compared to the former tax of Rs 12,500 (Dh165), this is substantially less.
The newly imposed tax became operative on August 10, 2024. Those travelers whose passports have a labor visa sticker on them are eligible for the discounted rate.
