On Thursday, Airbus announced record-breaking yearly jet orders and verified an 11% increase in 2023 deliveries, retaining its position as the leading manufacturer over rival Boeing for a fifth year.
Airbus reported that it had secured 2,319 gross orders and 2,094 net orders after cancellations last year, as airlines rushed to update their fleets. It reported that it delivered 735 aircraft, putting its order backlog at 8,598—confirming a story from Reuters.
According to Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury, the aircraft manufacturer has observed “increased flexibility and capability” in its industrial system. Analysts claim the company had a poor start to the year due to its struggles with constrained supply chains.
He continued, expressing confidence that Airbus would fulfill its delivery goal of 75 A320 aircraft per month by 2026, with ten assembly lines operating.
