According to sources with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), domestic and international flight operations have resumed at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport. The airport experienced disruptions on Thursday morning following a fire that broke out at the immigration counter.
They added that the fire had also repaired the immigration system.
Khawaja Asif, the federal minister for aviation, visited the Lahore airport today, seeing the area that was damaged by the fire and getting a briefing from the relevant personnel.
The Federal Aviation Administration (CAA) spokesperson stated that while the authorities were working to restore the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS), a crucial tool used by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for monitoring incoming flights, the aviation minister was informed about the return of domestic flight operations along with other pertinent systems.
It further stated that a specialized team from Islamabad has come to Lahore in order to finish the IBMS and get it operational.
Asif gave the aviation authorities the instruction to prioritize restoring the travelers’ vital monitoring system. The minister spoke with representatives from every agency that operates out of the airport while he was there.
He gave the airport management and all the agencies credit for moving quickly to put out the fire.
