The Disney Fantasy ship was 180 miles northwest of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, when an MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter was seen landing on its bow.
The coastguard issued the following statement: “The medevac patient was a 35-year-old pregnant woman, US citizen, who experienced health complications and required a higher level of medical care ashore.”
A member of the helicopter crew can be seen in a image posted to social media connecting the stretcher to a rope that is then raised, hoisting the passenger into the aircraft.
According to the US Coast Guard, the expectant traveler was transported to San Juan’s Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci Airport, where medical workers were waiting.
Later, in order to receive medical attention, she was taken to the Centro Medico Hospital.
