Following allegations in a newspaper that Alan Jones had abused young men for decades, Australian police charged Jones with 24 assault and sexual contact offenses on Monday.
Police in Sydney confirmed that an 83-year-old man had been arrested and charged, but they did not provide his identity.
TV footage on Monday showed him arriving at a police station in a police car, and he was widely recognized by Australian media as Alan Jones.
According to police, the crimes were committed against eight individuals between 2001 and 2019, some of whom Jones had a personal or business relationship with. According to them, the youngest was 17 years old when the offense occurred.
Now that charges have been filed, more alleged victims are probably going to come forward.
