LAHORE: As hospital emergency rooms and outpatient departments (OPDs) became overflowing with patients, an unsettling increase in pneumonia cases was observed in Lahore.
With the arrival of winter, children and patients with long-term illnesses were also becoming vulnerable to respiratory infections because of weakened immune systems.
The head of the Punjab Public Health Reference Lab, Dr. Husnain Javed, stated that the province capital’s smog, dry, and chilly weather were contributing to an ongoing increase in instances of bacterial and viral pneumonia.
