RAWALPINDI: Sources told News on Monday that the Punjab government has put limits on holding any meetings within the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi, which houses the former prime minister and founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan.
Khan will not be permitted to meet with party leaders, attorneys, or family members during this period, the sources said, citing security concerns for the prohibition, which is set to last until October 18.
Security concerns are the reason given by prison sources for the ban on meetings, especially those involving regular inmates. With the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting coming up in nearby Islamabad on October 15–16, this action seeks to strengthen the facility’s security.
