LONDON: The Chancellor’s Selection Committee has received a petition from around 200 Oxford University alums, faculty members, and current students requesting permission for former prime minister Imran Khan to run in the election that will take place later this month.
The institution acknowledged receipt of the petition to Geo News. It is thought the petition by the staff and alumni was arranged by Zulfi Bukhari, Imran Khan’s consultant on foreign affairs, who has managed the media campaign in the UK and international campaign in support of Khan, the incarcerated founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).
176 former students and alumni have signed the petition in support of Khan, stating that he is qualified and deserving of the position of chancellor.
