NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Munir Akram, a “distinguished figure in multilateral diplomacy,” will step down at the end of this month. The Pakistani mission to the UN organized a reception on Saturday to say goodbye to him.
Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Usman Jadoon, Consul General in New York Aamir Ahmed Atozai, Permanent Representative to the UN designate Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, mission officers and their families, staff members, and Akram’s wife were among the notable attendees.
Amb Ahmad praised his predecessor in his speech, recognizing his decades of “outstanding service” to Pakistan.
