Chinese and American individuals have never been closer as they exchange jokes and memes in what one user called a “historic moment” due to an impending TikTok ban.
All of this is taking place on RedNote, also known as Xiaohongshu (literally, Little Red Book), a well-known Chinese social media program that lacks the typical internet firewall that divides China from the rest of the world.
Despite their own government’s efforts to prohibit TikTok due to national security concerns, it has been attracting self-described US “TikTok refugees” looking for a new home on the internet.
