Gomez has reportedly lost some 708,000 followers on the network in the last month as a result of criticism directed at her portrayal as Emilia Perez and her tearful video.
With 422 million followers, the singer and actress continues to hold the title of most followed woman on the network, although it is currently in doubt.
In the past 30 days, Gomez lost more than 800,000 followers, according to CritiqueJeu data.
This follows an emotional video that Gomez, who is Mexican, shared on Instagram Stories. She discussed Donald Trump’s huge deportations of undocumented immigrants in the video.
