In the first formal confirmation of the purchase, a senior commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said Monday that the nation has purchased Sukhoi-35 fighter jets manufactured in Russia.
The Student News Network cited Ali Shadmani, who did not say how many jets were purchased or whether they were on the way.
“We make military purchases whenever necessary to strengthen our air, land, and naval forces,” Shadmani said, adding that military equipment production has also increased.
“If the enemy acts foolishly, it will taste the bitter taste of being hit by our missiles, and none of its interests in the occupied territories will remain safe,” he said, referring to Israel, Iran’s regional nemesis.
