Now, during King Charles’ cancer treatment, the Ministry of Defence appears to have revealed his official birthday plans for June of this year.
King Charles’ actual birthday is November 14th. The event of Trooping the Colour marks the Sovereign’s formal birthday, which this year comes on Saturday, June 15, 2024.
Trooping the Colour is thought to have originated during King Charles II’s reign, which lasted from 1660 until 1685.
In 1748, it was determined that this parade would commemorate the Sovereign’s official birthday. It became an annual event after George III became the King.
This year, on Saturday, June 15, 2024, the 9th Company Irish Guards will Troop their Colour in front of the King.
Over 1350 soldiers from the Household Division and King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery will participate, as well as over 300 musicians from the Massed Bands.
