Greater Manchester Police (GMP) described Stacey Smith’s attempt to kill her as a “unprovoked and frenzied hammer attack” after she waited outside her manager’s house.
According to the force, the 46-year-old was “filled with rage after a prolonged row over work shift patterns”
On November 11 of last year, Smith reportedly arrived at her manager’s house in Dukinfield, Tameside, at 5:30 a.m., knowing she would be preparing to go for work.
When she finally left, Smith “screamed” that she was “going” and again struck her over the head with the hammer.
In an attempt to protect herself, the victim shattered her wrist and suffered severe brain injuries.
Following the assault, locals stepped out to assist the victim, covering the hammer with a plastic bag and giving first aid.
Smith texted a pal after the attempted murder, saying, “I’ve done it. Her head has been crushed in by me. “Oppsie xx!”
According to the force, she also stated that she would “go on the run” to Liverpool.
Rather, she turned herself in and was taken into custody on charges of attempting to kill someone.
