At the age of 14, Sara Bland, a 70-year-old Colchester native, caught sight of the legendary guitarist while strolling through the heart of Ipswich.
She had gone to see pop trio The Walker Brothers in Ipswich with friends with the hopes of getting their autographs, but instead she saw Jimi Hendrix. He was the backup act for the evening.
The book was expected to fetch between £2,000 and $3,000 at auction on Saturday. It barely reached the reserve price when it sold for £2,000.
In Mrs. Bland’s book, the American guitarist penned “Love, Jimi Hendrix”.
Mrs. Bland recently told the news that she now resides in the south of France.
She remarked, “I figured, why not sell it since I have something that might be valuable and I’m not looking at it anymore?”
“If it sells, it sells, if it doesn’t, it doesn’t, but whatever I get for it, jolly good,” she said in response to a question about her expectations for the transaction. I’ll be really content.”
