Nazim Asmal, 35, admitted guilt to four counts of rape at Preston Crown Court in Lancashire in November. He was given a sentence of 17 years in jail and a further five years on extended licence.
Asmal, who used to live on Balaclava Street in Blackburn but does not presently have a fixed address, carried out his first attack in October 2021 when his victim got into his car in Preston’s downtown.
After about ten minutes of driving, he raped her in the car and dropped her off in the heart of the city. She then signaled for assistance to a member of the public.
The second incident happened in March 2023 after his victim got into Asmal’s car after going out late one night in Darwen. She was raped by him after he took her to a remote location.
When the caller ID displayed “no caller ID” at the beginning of April of that year, he attempted to reach his victim after obtaining her number, but she did not respond.
On April 8, 2023, Asmal gave her another call, and this time, the victim answered.
Though she didn’t know who her assailant was, she could recognize his voice. The victim hung up when Asmal continued asking, “If she wanted to do something?”
