Medhat Abbas, a representative of the Gaza health ministry, told Reuters that displaced persons were being housed at the Abu Hussein school in Jabalia, northern Gaza.
“There is no water to extinguish the fire,” he claimed, adding that 160 people were injured in the strike. Nothing is present.
The operation, according to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), targeted dozens of militants from Islamic Jihad and Hamas who had assembled at the location.
The head of the ministry’s emergency section in northern Gaza, Fares Abu Hamza, stated that the Kamal Adwan Hospital, which is nearby, was having difficulty caring for the victims.
Emergency personnel were seen on camera hurrying the injured out of the compound amidst the rubble.
This comes after 23 people were killed when Israeli forces attacked another school in Nuseirat, central Gaza, earlier this week.
Syria’s military said Israel struck the coastal city of Latakia in the Middle East, causing damage to a military base and wounded two civilians.
Israel has already attacked Iranian and Hezbollah-affiliated military installations in Syria.
After a year of almost daily interactions across the same border, it has intensified its campaign against the Iran-backed militant group stationed in Lebanon in recent weeks.
