In a recent court document, Angelina Jolie’s attorneys asserted that Brad Pitt had mistreated her prior to the 2016 plane incident, which prompted her to file for divorce.
As part of their ongoing legal struggle over their French winery Chateau Miraval, Angelina’s legal team filed a motion on Thursday, April 4, according to Page Six.
“While Pitt’s history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles,” Angelina said through her attorneys.
The affidavit went on, saying that this was the first time he had also physically abused the children. Jolie then departed him right away.
The paper that the outlet obtained shows that after learning that Jolie had filed a sealed petition in 2021, Pitt wanted her to “contractually bind herself to that silence” regarding any of his alleged “personal misconduct, whether related to Miraval or not.”
Jolie’s attorneys said that Pitt was afraid that the material might one day become public because of Jolie’s sealed file, which contained emails, summaries of the family’s anticipated testimony, and other evidence.
“Mr. Pitt refused to purchase Ms. Jolie’s interest when she would not be silenced by his NDA,” actress Paul Murphy told Page Six. Pitt had first agreed to buy Angelina’s shares of the French winery, but he reportedly declined out of concern for her sealed documents.
