Following a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior, car owners have received a significant update regarding the penalty for delayed vehicle registration. The committee examined a notification issued on August 2 by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Islamabad that imposed late registration penalties on 1,000cc to 3,000cc automobiles.
According to the DC, the penalty for late registrations was Rs 260 million for the government. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, a committee member, responded by calling for the removal of these penalties. The DC added that a drop in infractions has resulted from the increase in motorway fines to Rs 2,500. Zartaj Gul, a committee member, recommended seeking expert advice in order to properly handle the registration concerns.
